Hello everyone. Thank you for visiting my website kumotranslations and checking out my passion project. You might be wondering what this website is all about. You most likely stumbled over this website, because you found one of my translated webnovels and wanted to read further. But this project will be a lot bigger than simply another japanese webnovel blog. My goal is to create the ultimate japanese translation ai. Yeah yeah i know, ai is all the rage right now and super hyped. But it also allows to dream up potentials, that where though of impossible just a few years ago. And i also know that there is a huge debate about ethics and other stuff with ai. So am i just an evil person that wants to make every translator under the sun jobless. No. I will let google do that. But how many webnovels do you know that got translated by a proffesional translator and put up online for free? Yeah me neither. There will always be way to many stories that never see the light of day in the english community, simply because it is not econommically viable to pay a human to translate them. But at the same time i am not a person that wants to settle for mediocre. DeepL and Google Translate are neat for maybe a sentence or two. Yet they very quickly break apart after a paragraph. That simply won't do. And as you all know as big fans of japanese media, the language poses extra difficulties to be translated into english, the biggest one are pronounse and very flowery names for characters etc. etc. My endgoal will not simply be a single machine learning model that spits out semi-good translation. It will be a legion of multiple agents, translators, editors, grammar professors, internet researchers and more to create up to date translations that keep up with pop culture references. That know what characters exist in a story. That even know how they speak and can emulate those styles in the translation. And webnovels are only my first step. I want to expand to every type of media, manga, anime, visual novels etc. When i am done there should be not a single piece of japanese media that anyone can enjoy in their preferred language. Training models, creating this website, producing translations, all cost time and money (for now...) and the more i have of both, the fast i will be able to achieve this dream.
